The First Pass / Target network

Choose the fit.
Then prepare the application.

Start with your audience, traffic and intended offer. A network account is useful when you have a realistic plan for using it.

Which operating model describes you?

Editorial or content publisher

You publish useful content for a defined audience. Prepare live article examples, explain how readers arrive, and identify relevant products. Skimlinks and FlexOffers are research candidates; check each platform's current requirements.

Performance affiliate

You plan and measure campaigns around a defined action. Prepare your traffic format, destination path, GEO, realistic budget and conversion checks. MaxBounty is one research candidate; availability and permission depend on the campaign.

These are starting points for research, not approval predictions or rankings. If your assets or traffic do not yet support either model, complete the missing work before applying.

Your one-network worksheet

Copy the following fields into your own working document. Keep supporting URLs beside each answer. Mark anything unknown as a question for the manager.

  1. Audience: Who benefits from my content or campaign? Which country and language?
  2. Traffic: Source, format, account owner, and how visitors reach my destination.
  3. Offer fit: The category I can promote credibly and the action the advertiser expects.
  4. Evidence: Live site, representative content, ownership and truthful operating history.
  5. Permissions: The exact campaign rule for my source, GEO, creatives and email use if applicable.
  6. First test: Budget I can fund, tracking path, review interval and stop condition.
  7. Manager questions: What is still unverified? Which document can resolve it?
  8. Decision: Apply now, repair a named gap, or choose a better fit. Record why.

Before a manager call

Prepare a short introduction using five anchors: identity, experience, fit, first plan and control. Use the scripts on pp. 19–21 of The First Pass. Do not memorize a history that is not yours.

“My primary source is [actual source]. I plan to start with [format and category] in [GEO]. I can show [evidence]. Before launching, I need to confirm [specific permission].”

After approval, validate one campaign

Confirm campaign access and traffic rules, then test your destination and conversion tracking before spending. Network membership by itself is not permission to use every advertiser, traffic method or brand keyword.
